Star in Staffs
Star in Staffs is an annual competition that Staffs Fest holds for young musicians in the Staffordshire area, the competition gives the opportunity to play in heats in public; an under 18s ‘open mic’ at Slaters Bar in Stafford. Four sets of musicians whether a solo artist, duet or band are selected to go forward to the final and the chance to play on the Main Stage at the three day festival
Kit and Grace from the band Gin Sunday who hosted the heats said,
“We were genuinely blown away with the performances for ‘Star in Staffs,’ well done to all the artists for getting out there and putting themselves up on the stage. There’s nothing more valuable than experience. We are delighted to announce the musicians that have been selected to go forward to the final and perform on the main stage at Staffs Fest on Saturday 25th of May. In no particular order; Macy aged 13, Georgie aged 13, Ruby 14 and Teachers Pet Band with various ages under 18 (accompanied by their teacher Kieran). Please come and support the musicians of the future”
The final will start at 10.30 am with each finalist having a 10 minute slot. The judging panel consists of John Davis local band promoter from Erndor 50 Promotions, Dean Phoenix from Phoenix Music Studios and Jon King from local band The Rockdogs.
The overall winner will receive the prize of two days recording time in Phoenix Music Studio and the production of a CD.
Star in Staffs is in association each year with Slaters Stafford and Phoenix Music Studio
Tickets to Staffs Fest are available for evening only, day/eyeing ticket and weekend. All tickets have the choice of optional camping; children under 16 are free as long as booked the same time as an adult. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times
